Jason Yarros is a Colorado-based adoption advocate, retired army pilot, and lacrosse coach who is well known as the husband of Rebecca Yarros. He is the Vice President of One October, a non-profit adoption advocacy organization that he co-founded alongside his wife.
An outstanding, and seasoned millitary man, Jason is credited for being an excellent, army aviator who went on five successfull deployments around the world, including in Afghanistan and Iraq . As a pilot he holds a Rotory Wing Commercial Pilots License from the Federal Aviation Administration.
He has served as an Assistant Lacrosse Coach for the Cheyenne Mountain Lacrosse Club since 2017, where he teaches kids the fundamentals of the game and nurtures the to be true sportsmen.

Millitary Career
Yarros joined the military almost immediately after graduating from high school in 1997 and started out as a cavalry scout. From his early days as a military officer, Jason was a disciplined, hardworking, and dedicated fellow who displayed a natural aptitude for aviation.
While he initially started out as a cavalry scout, he spent the next 10 years mastering the art of aviation and perfecting his technical proficiency in the cockpit, and in 2008 he was named Aviation Safety Officer. In 2003, during his first army deployment to Iran, Jason was injured by an anti-tank land mine.
This, however, did not discourage him from serving his country but rather motivated him to do so more passionately. After recovering from his injuries, he went back into the army and made four more deployments to Iran and Iraq.
He served as an aviation safety officer on three different squads from 2008 to 2019.
He first spent 3 years working as an AH-64D Pilot and Aviation Safety Officer based in Fort Drum, NY, from the end of 2009 to the beginning of 2013. He then took a break of nearly one year, came back in the same capacity in December of 2013, and spent another one and a half years in Fort Drum.
His term at Fort Drum ended in March 2015, and in June of that same year, he was transferred to Fort Carson, CO, as an Aviation Safety Officer for the 6th Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, U.S. Army. He spent another 4 years and 5 months at Fort Carson before finally retiring and moving back to Colorado.
In 2019, Jason was offered a bonus of $105,000 from the army in exchange for three years of his life; however, he turned it down and chose to retire and spend time with his wife.
His Rebecca published an open letter to the army, claiming that her husband’s life was worth more than the money they had offered her, as she didn’t see the Army coming out with an exit strategy from the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. She understood that, in a time of war, her husband, who had given his life for his country, deserved peace.
Education
Yarros joined the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2011 while he was still in the army. He spent the next six years at the institution, and in 2017, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the institution with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautics, Aviation, Aerospace, Science, and Technology.
Life After The Army
After leaving the Army, Jason co-founded the One October non-profit organization along with his wife. The organization aims to create awareness about the importance of adoption and help children in foster care. He continues to serve as the vice president of the organization to date.
