Amy’s involvement in the Cari Farver case began in 2013, just a few years after she had broken up with David Kroupa. That year, she started being followed and bombarded with harassing text messages on Facebook from an account that was presumably Cari’s being sent by Liz, who had killed Cari and impersonated her.
In 2015, Dave broke up with Liz, citing that he was looking to get serious with another woman, and Liz assumed it was Amy. Angry, jealous, and bewildered, Liz decided to make Amy a living hell and pin Cari Farver’s murder on her.
She began by first reporting that Amy was harassing her by sending her threats on Facebook. A few days later, she went on to pull out a rather shadily executed and not well-thought-out plan to put Amy in prison. She went to a park in Council Bluffs, Iowa, shot herself in the thigh, and went on to tell detectives that she thought it was Flora who had shot her.
However, Flora was cleared of the offense that same day after detectives had questioned her. However, Golyar kept on insisting that Flora should be arrested; during this period, he became suspicious of Goylar and devised a plan to nab her.
They acted as if they believed her story and asked her to reach out to Flora to see if she would incriminate herself. Liz began fabricating emails that had details of Cari’s murder, and this confirmed their suspicion that Liz was behind the murder.
They went on to search her car and phone and found evidence that later helped incriminate Shanna “Liz” Golyar for the murder of Cari Farver.
